It’s easier to understand vast amounts of information if you can organize it into groups. This is one way that the perspective of Elemental Energy can make subtle energy easier to understand.
Broadly, the energies of planets, signs, gemstones, and ourselves can be classified as one of the five elements of Air, Earth, Fire, Water, or Fusion. This is only one of many (many many!) groups of classifications, but it is the one that makes the most sense to me.
The elemental energy of Air pertains to thinking, ideas, intuition, spirituality, dreams, and the head area of the body. The Air element relates to the Crown and Third Eye Chakras. Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are Air Signs. An excess of Air energy can be expressed in spaciness, forgetfulness, being easily distracted, and just not being Present. Deficient Air would result in a stilted imagination, cloudy thinking, inability to make decisions or see the big picture, and not feeling connected to Spirit.
The Water element embodies our emotions, our communication, and our fluidity and flexibility. Water energy flows through the Heart and Throat Chakras-our centers of love and compassion, and of expression. Low Water influence can result in being confused by emotion, and having unclear communication. Overactive Water energy results in an uncontrolled flood of emotion and/or communication. Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are Water Signs.
The energy of Fire is the motor of life. It powers creativity and ignites our joy for living. The Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras are related to Fire energy. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are Fire Signs. Excessive Fire energy may be seen in an over-aggressive personality, physical inflammation, and can result in literal burn-out. Without enough Fire energy, we feel unmotivated, uninspired, and unhappy.
Earth energy relates to the physical world, our structure, stability, order, responsibilities, a sense of security, our basic needs. The Root Chakra is where Earth energy interacts with the body. Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are Earth Signs. An excess of Earth energy would be evidenced by lethargy, inertia, or an obsession with order and rules. A deficiency could result in fearfulness, feeling ungrounded, or being accident prone.
The Fusion element can be considered the result of the presence of all 4 of Air, Earth, Fire and Water. ALSO it represents the energy beyond the physical. Fusion energy can be compared to the feeling after a rainstorm, with a clearing and cleansing of the environment on both physical and subtle levels. Fusion energy can be a source of protection. It can clear negativity and bring a higher vibration. Fusion energy is transformational. Fusion energy is correlated to Prana, or Chi, in some philosophies.
